Based on a great blue heron photographed in Maryland last year in a place where I often get terrific photos of them. It's funny how different these birds are in various places I've seen them. In some locations you can get quite close if you are quiet, and in others, the mere distant sight of a human sends them off. The serenity associated with a quiet wetland and a perched or wading heron, is a situation tailor made to lure photographers and artists. Admittedly, I take the bait every single time.
