Finally dipping my toe into the vast reference of African animals from my recent trip to Botswana and Zimbabwe! Not being able to decide on where to start, I decided to go small and simple with a species, that while common in the region, is such an important and vital animal to the ecosystem. Impala herds are vast and there were no shortage of them on our trip, but each time I saw them I wanted to stop and photograph them. Graceful and strong, their beautifully sculpted bodies capture the morning and evening light in a way that really attracts the eye of an artist. A lone male standing off by itself, looking alert, seemed like a perfect pose to represent this enigmatic animal.
