This little chipping sparrow has discovered some prime nesting material in the form of fur/hair left behind from some imagined animal that brushed up against an old nail sticking out of a piece of wood. People often ask me where I start with a piece, and usually my answer is with the eyes/expression of an animal, but in this case, I wanted to get that single strand of hair just right in case I blew it, so I started with the beak of the bird and that piece of hair. Inking over a mistake here was not an option as it would be too noticeable!
